Cassie Premo Steele – Co-Creator, inspires me each week with her creative poem written from one word entries by friends on Facebook. “Wordy Wednesdays” was my initial link to Cassie after I saw a poem posted on another friend’s Facebook page. What began as a weekly entry for me, has developed into an inspiring discussion of poetry, online creativity, book publishing and a brief book discussion for her Pomegranate Papers, published by Unbound Content. My luck was with me to spend an evening with Cassie, discussing our natural creativity, writing, developing creativity online and Cassie’s journey.
When the first poem appeared on my ‘wall’, I was intrigued to discover the process Cassie follows as she “creates” a poem using our words. Cassie writes in her blog about the book developed from our offerings, “In less than a month, I will be publishing the world’s first book of Facebook Co-Created Poetry. Since 2010, I have been co-creating a poem each Wednesday with friends on Facebook by asking them to suggest a word in the comment boxes below my status update and then co-creating a poem using all their words. The book is called Wednesday and will be released by Unbound Content– a small, independent, woman-owned publisher in New Jersey, on May 12th. The book includes the names of over 300 Facebook friends who co-created the poems with me. So I know for sure that Facebook is not a waste of time.”
Cassie’s advice is to write, to note your surroundings, write for 20 minutes every day. Yes, every day. Write, record, note, but always, write. Whatever your internal conversation, there is a creative gene in all of us, let it breathe, bring it forth and if you need inspiration, seek to co-create with Cassie. You’ll be glad to discover your inner radiance.
